In this month’s Life, God, and the Universe blog entitled Is the Bible Consistent?, we examine two types of consistency in the Bible … horizontal consistency and vertical consistency. Horizontal consistency pertains to determining whether the commandments of Jesus as described in the New Testament are consistent with the commandments in the Old Testament as authored by Moses. Vertical consistency pertains to determining whether the actions of Jesus as described in the New Testament are consistent with His words mentioned earlier in the New Testament. In other words, did Jesus follow His own advice? Did He walk the talk?
